Watch Placido Domingo perform before he retires

Saw Luisa Fernanda last night at the LA Opera. Placido played the role of the kind hearted, rich farmer who falls in love with Luisa, but then lets her go back to her jerk ex Javier. He was incredible! In person it was wonderful to hear such rich tone from Placido – with no microphones or speakers in the theatre, I was amazed that he could project his voice beautifully over the orchestra. The gent playing Javier was frequently drowned out…

Hope I have the honor of seeing Mr. Domingo again in the near future!

I was so excited because I saw his name in the credits for La Boheme which will be playing at the LA Opera in Nov/Dec 2007… Now a few days later I’ve figured out that he will only be conducting. Not nearly as exciting as hearing him sing, is it?
