is determined to work.
“Worth it” is an understatement … this is an opportunity to save a life, if someone applies to the bone marrow registry who is a match for you.
The registration is no big deal, and it is totally worth doing.

There was a blood drive in my town a few years ago for a woman who died because she didn’t get a bone marrow transplant. At the drive they also asked people to join the bone marrow registry, which I did. They’ve never contacted me, but I feel good knowing that I’m making an effort, even if I’m never a match.

I got my acceptance letter today :) I am now officially in the Canadian Blood Services’ Unrelated Bone Marrow Donor Registry. This was one of my first goals on this list and not too hard when all is said and done. I had to overcome my fear of needles and I did!
They will probably not ever need my marrow but now they know if it’s needed they are welcome to it :)

I got a call the other day saying they received my application and they made an appoinment for me at the blood registry to have samples taken on Monday. I am a little nervous about the needle side of things but to the “specimen collection” I will go.
