Update... 1 year ago

My relationship of 6+ months has moved to the next level… I find her amazing and a joy to be around. After a bit of discussion, I asked her to marry me. She accepted. So, now its off to pre-marital counseling next and a July wedding date.

Now, I have to tell my two daughters… that’s likely harder than ask her to marry me.

I'm calling this done, for now... 2 years ago
Although I see this goal as a continuous process of growth… the original intent of the goal has been fulfilled. I have created my new life. I have:
  • Ended a Marriage gone wrong
  • Sold my old house
  • Moved to a new place
  • Started a new (and much better) relationship with a wonderful woman.
  • Started on a path to new career opportunities.

All in all… I have a new life… now its back to the on-going process of rediscovery and reinvention.

First night in my new digs 2 years ago

Well, its been a busy 4 days since the divorce became official. I’ve spent the last four days moving out of the first home I ever purchased and moving into my new apartment. (Actually a rented Townhome). Its also the first time in close to 22 years since I lived entirely alone. More later.

It the end of my past life and the beginning of my new life. 2 years ago

The end-game of my 19 year marriage started back at the end of November and today its final and complete. I have a copy of the papers signed and filed today at 2:30 PM. So, officially I am a bachelor again.

On the same day I signed my lease for my new place and started moving stuff over there and by the end of the weekend I should have most of the stuff moved in there.

In a moment of melancholy I note that it would have been a more significant day had the woman I had been seeing for the past two months not chosen to end our relationship… But, her point about her not being ready might be true… it might be true for me as well… Don’t know… we shall have to see as I start dating once again. For, I think you are really only ready when you find “the right one” and this is my mission.

And the process begins in earnest... 2 years ago

I have leased a new place (the house has sold and the divorce deal is done… so now, while equity poor, I am rich with opportunity.

And this month is proving to be a wealth of changes.
  • My now former GF decided she was not ready for an LTR
  • My house sold
  • The divorce settlement is done
  • The divorce becomes final
  • A dear friend to whom I caused some hurt to over love has resurfaced and started talking to me.

It has been a wild ride… Now, while I love roller coasters… I am not fond of this kind of roller coaster…. So, I am hoping that next month will be smoother.

The deal is done... 2 years ago

Now its soon to be signing time and then the divorce is done and final. So, if all goes to plan… on the 20 of July 2006… I will be officially divorced… She will have gotten a generous financial settlement and I will have gotten my freedom. Not the outcome I wanted 19 years ago… but what needed to happen.

Its Official... the House is in Escrow now... 2 years ago

Well, the Deal is done… the buyer wants the house… and barring financing snags… I have to be out of the house by the 27th of July. Now its Apartment hunting time… Seems that there’s not a lot of options in my area so the hunting is a bit of a challenge… but doable.

Next issue: the Divorce Settlement… We meet tomorrow to discuss the final financial details and work out the deal. Then its sign papers and the deal is done and over. The end is near…

The end is in sight.... 2 years ago

Today the offer on the house went from an “offer” to a “done deal”. The Buyer has accepted the house “as is” and waived the inspection report. So… now the melancholy part… I must be moved out by the 27th of July… so apartment shopping is my next big task.

Now all that is left is the sorting out of the final details of the settlement. So, perhaps, I will again have the time to return to my old posting topics and discussions…
