As Soon As Possible! 9 months ago

I’m still a minor, and my parents won’t let me change my sleep schedule until summer of 2009. I can hardly wait to do it! I’m very curious about it. I’ve been wanting to try it for so long that even the “terrible transition” seems like it will be interesting.

My friends said I went a little crazy last time I tried this, but hey there is a fine line between insanity and genius and I intend to erase it.

Polyphasic Sleep 3 years ago

I think this sleep cycle will work well for me. I find myself tired all the time, regardless of how much sleep i get. When i take short naps throughout the day i feel better and more energetic. I am going to try this hardcore. No backing out. 6 30 minute naps. NO EXCEPTIONS. I think with a proper diet this will really work for me. I will have more time and feel better. Im excited. i will probably start in a week. Wish me luck.

hi, new to this site 3 years ago

for anyone interested, there is a pretty nice polyphasic sleep group that you can sign up for at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/uberman. There are many members there who do it actively and they are very supportive for the new ones still in the whole process. the www.wikipedia.com article on polyphasic sleeping has a nice set of links to learn more about it for those wanting to do some more research before getting into things.

So that's what it's called... 3 years ago

Apparently I’ve been doing this totally by accident for nearly two months now. I thought it was just insomnia or something, except I feel better than when I force myself to sleep like a normal person.

More hours in the day 3 years ago

I’m very interested in this concept, but I’m not sure how well I’d do on it. Since I contracted glandular fever a couple of years ago, I’ve never really recovered. I’ve continued to need a lot more sleep than I should to function coherently when I am awake. I wonder what this kind of schedule would do to my system?

This is something I want to do, but I might put it on the backburner for a while so I can do a bit more research.

Being frustrated by the lack of hours in the day, I did some research and decided to at least try to implement a polyphasic sleep schedule into my life. The basic facts are that I would take several naps a day instead of sleeping in one chunk, and overall it would amount to my being awake approximately 22 hours out of every 24. I’m not going to go into the science and health issues involved in this, but apparently many geniuses and creative people throughout history were known to make use of polyphasic sleep for at least some of their lives, and I want to join them. I hope that even if I discover I can’t do it all the time, I can still get a lot out of the extra time I end up with while I’m on it.
