I have a violin and used to play a little, early last year. But things happen and practice didn’t, and now it sits in my music room. Occasionally I get it out and have a little play – I have a good ear for music, but don’t know the intricacies of getting the right sound. So I’m often close, but no cigar. Although, I taught myself how to play the very start of that fiddle run in “The Devil Went Down To Georgia”. Now, to play like a true bluegrass fiddle master, now THAT is my challenge.

I played violin in seventh and eighth grade, then abandoned the orchestra for chorus. For a long time after that I didn’t play because I had no way to, and I missed it. Then for Yule 2004 my father gave me a violin as a holiday gift. It is a wonderful instrument and I picked it back up and remembered nearly everything instantly. The problem is, I never WAS that good to begin with! So I’d like to practice and make it so I don’t occasionally sound like I’m torturing a cat.
