#3 - Dance to the beat :) 2 years ago

This is no problem for my daughter; she’s been taking dance lessons for about ten years now, but it’s something we’re trying to teach my son. The kids got Dance Revolution for Christmas and we’ve been playing alot. Josh is good at it, but is hitting the arrows when he sees them hit their mark, not by listening to the beat of the music. Someday he’ll care about girls and girls love a guy who can dance – I won’t tell him that now (he takes guitar lessons and when my husband told him girls like guys who play guitar, he was VERY upset – actually thought his father was making fun of him)

#2 Community service 3 years ago

My daughter is involved in an after school ‘community service’ program. It just began so they’re just now talking about what they’ll be doing. I’ve been thinking about something my little guy could do also. So, we talked about it and decided we would help Trudy (my new elderly friend/neighbor I met just recently on one of my walks) put out and take back in her recycling bins. When I mentioned it to him, he liked the idea. Today was the first day we did this. We went to her house from the bus stop and he brought her bins to the curb. And tomorrow we’ll go back to put them away :-)
I like this goal; I’m thinking about putting it higher on my list. I like to think that I teach my kids many things, but this goal will hopefully encourage me to think ‘outside the box’ and a little more deeply about what I teach my children. And we might even have some fun while we’re at it…

#1 - setting the dinner table 3 years ago

In trying to achieve my goal of eating dinner at the table more, I showed the kids how to properly set a dinner table; forks and napkins on the left, knives with the blade pointing toward the plate on the right… (I actually went on an ‘etiquette’ site to be sure myself) :-)
