The “Spider Effect” can cause trauma to anyone jumping in a leaf pile for the first time, so I am issuing a “might not be worth it” warning. The last time I played in the leaves, I came up with a giant Wolf Spider on my arm. Having already been bit by a brown recluse that crawled into my football cleat when I was starting 7th grade, I wasn’t game for an arm bite from one of these things when I was just starting high school. Now I’m more careful; playing in the leaves is totally worth doing, I think, but only if you do it carefully. ;-)
....and I want to do it again, but they have been too wet lately. But I will!
This photo is from 2004. :)
This was totally one of the most fun things I’ve done. Back in High School a few years ago there were HUGE piles of leaves out front of the building, so during lunch break one day about 8 or 9 friends and I went outside just to make piles and jump in them and throw them at eachother.
We took pictures and it was definitely a good time. I recommend it to everybody.
all of the neighborhood kids were teaming up and helping whichever family was raking their lawn at the time. it really sped up the process and huge piles were made, and they encouraged me to jump it. i did and it was a LOT of fun, and something silly i’d always wanted to do. just do them right when you’ve raked them, so bugs haven’t had time to climb in and you know that tools and stuff aren’t hiding in the pile.
Walking home from college me and two of my friends were kicking the leaves around because there were so many and I ended up with a load in my hair!!
my dear friend april and i played in the leaves for a very long time. it was glorious.
