grow a giant pumpkin

I’ve got 12 little pots in my kitchen filled with seeds and I’m just waiting for them to sprout!

Got the seeds going, just got to wait and see if they do anythng for me now.

I got my seeds!! Watched a show on this and was completely excited to do it. This guy at work had sent an email out earlier in the year saying he had seeds from his giant pumpkin if anyone was intrested. It was almost 8 months later but he still had some. Just got to wait for the season to come aroun again. I am no where near ready but I got my seeds…

Not enough sun in my backyard, I didn’t incubate the seedlings right, and I probably didn’t sing to it nearly enough. The joy was in the journey, I guess… :)

progress towards goal so far:

• rototilled in a bunch of manure last fall to get soil ready
• planted rye grass over the winter
• got seeds from someone who did this before
• 5/5/6 – rototilled, planted the seeds outside w/my kids – should have planted indoors ( pumpkinnook.com ) but the soil and weather seem good so I just went ahead and planted outside.
• 5/18 – took a close look and i’m starting to see some green sprouting out of the ground – these are from 3/4/500 pound seed sets but my father-in-law says I’ll be lucky if I hit 25 pounds with the location I have (hey it’s the best I can do)
