My Dad & I were given a hot air balloon ride each for Christmas many years ago. We tried for an early morning take off but there was too much wind. After a day of kicking our heels we finally had a second successful attempt in late afternoon. After inflating the balloon and being held down only with people’s weight and a stake in the ground and a few extra sand bags, everyone is leaning on the basket to stop it taking off. I found myself gazing into the eyes of a lovely girl who was helping the pilot as we leaned into the basket from opposite sides. I’m sure I fell in love in the moment of that smile, but then we took off and I never saw her again. 4 days ago

How I did it: We saw a half price offer on Groupon, and siezed the opportunity to have a family adventure. We also used it as part of DH's birthday celebrations.
I enjoyed doing something different with our son, and conquered or supressed my fear of heights by thinking 'what the heck' whiel we were up there.
In fact the scariest part was the take off, as once one is airborne, it is amazingly serene. Read how I did it… 3 months ago

for a meeting, then we will leave for the out of city destination straight from the meeting, have dinner and retire. Then it will be up at 5am and at the launch site by 6am.

So far, have unearthed a thermal spencer and leggings.
Have to unearth the fleecy boots, thermal socks, a beanie, gloves and a scarf.
