Everyone is talking about my party on Saturday!
last night that it all happened… It was sooooo good to see my relatives, a number of colleagues & other friends all together having a good meal, nice conversation and a lot of fun!
Though I’m usually horrible when it comes to speaking in public, my speech yesterday was very well appreciated. Many guests didn’t know each other beforehand so I called a few ppl to step forward, introduced them to everyone and at the same time I expressed my consideration for them – some were visibly touched
title is a pun in French… impossible to translate;)
On 15 March I’ll be hosting a 101-little-reasons-to-have-a-party-party. Found & booked a good location, and now I’m in the creative process of making invitation cards:)
Librarian is making progress.
We had R’s sister and her husband over to watch football in HD. But we actually didn’t watch much football—more walked around the house and yard and talked about everything we want to do. We served tortilla chips with chipotle-cheese dip, chili, sundried tomato breadsticks, and homemade cole slaw. R’s sister brought pumpkin cake for dessert. It was fun!

Back in 2003, I participated in the Who Wants to be a MillionaireTV show. This game show allows the contestant to “call a friend” when they are not sure about how to answer one question in the series. That is what I did, but on a slightly more massive scale.
Before leaving for the show, I prepared all the infrastructure at home: computers running Encarta Encyclopedia (Wikipedia was small back then), paper dictionaries, a landline phone with a thoroughly-tested “mute” feature, and lots of snacks and non-alcoholic drinks (I didn’t want anyone to answer the call for a friend with a burp).
The morning the show was filmed, my place was a veritable party: I had gathered a bunch of friends and family with various expertise, most of them skipping school or taking the morning off from work. There was the literature expert, the science geek, the doctor, the artsy girl, the binary-search-through-the-history-dictionary guy and so on. All these people were having fun, of quite an intellectual nature, while waiting for me to call during the game show.
Was that a party? We thought it was.
I hosted a party at my place and invited some old high-school friends over. It was pretty cool and all… but my mom was out at some Bengali party until about 11pm, and when she came home I was hanging out on the couch with my friends (all guys) and she was bitching at me for not sitting properly or something. I was doing absolutely nothing wrong! >:O
Now, my mother is crazy and I’m not hosting any more parties when she’s at home… but it’s really nice to have a big group of people around with good food and entertainment (all exactly how you want it because you plan it!), so I’d say that hosting a party is still worth it.
Tony, the Bald Eagle is having a great life!
Hosted a great BBQ. Put a beef spit roast on (low heat) at 1pm & it was ready by 6pm. The meat was tender & delicious!
Salad, spuds, wine, beer, fruit salad & ice-cream, cheeses, olives etc…
The company was all good. I think the more I do, the better I will get.
im thinking about an indian themed party with indian food, bollywood movies, and henna tattoos galore! how awesome would that be!
