Last year my highschool band (Klein High in Klein, Texas) played at Carnegie Hall…it was absolutely amazing. When asked, most people described the hall as “round.” I was one of them. Haha! But it was amazing.
How to perform at Carnegie Hall
How I did it: I was in a bell choir for 7 years...anyone can do it. Just join something, anything, worthwhile. We were fortunate enough to be able to perform with the New York Pops led by the late Skitch Henderson. Just get out there and be a part of life!! This choir was also non-profit - didn't cost me a penny! You don't have to be rich to experience great things.

My highschool orchestra played there last spring! we played stravinsky’s firebird, barber’s school for scandal and mahler’s adagietto. It was INCREDIBLE. I almost cried when we played the last note of the firebird; what an amazing place.
Our church choir, along with 4 other choirs, performed at Carnegie Hall 3 weeks ago…it was amazing! All those hours of rehearsal were worth it. We sang Haydn’s “Mass in Time of War”, and by the time we were through, I had tears in my eyes. An unforgettable experience.
I took the tour last week while I was in New York City, but I had to leave early to catch my flight. On the plane the woman next to me told me she had taken the tour the day before, and they ended by going on stage and someone volunteered to sing to demonstrate the acoustics. I said “Shoot, I knew I was going to miss something good!” But it was so cool to go in there. My first thought was, “someday I’m going to play here.”
