Become a dive master (scuba diving)

Just got back from El Gouna here in Egypt after two dives. The last of which was my 100th!

Hopefully my dive buddy will have a pic I can post…

I think I’d rather be a Dive Master so I’m going to change this goal…

I learnt to SCUBA dive under the PADI system just over a year ago. So far here is my progress:

SCUBA Diver

Open Water Diver

Adventure Diver

Advanced Open Water Diver

Rescue Diver

Dive Master

This is the most serious and involved of all PADI certification levels and I loved every minute of it. It’s almost like a real college course. There’s a lot of physics and chemistry involved. There’s also a project and an internship.

Here’s what I loved about it:

• Mapping project
• Internship acting as divemaster for various levels of classes: Open Water, Advanced Open Water and Rescue Diver.
• Free boat dives while divemastering the Advanced course.

I absolutely loved helping first-time divers overcome their fears and equipment problems. I loved the look of awe and relief in the faces of beginners when you get them out of trouble.

Also, divemastering the Rescue Diver course you get to beat up on a student just like I got beat on when I took the Rescue Diver course (acting as a panicked diver).

Diving in general is more enjoyable with the confidence and expertise that the Divemaster course will give you.
