see Niagra Falls

How I did it: I live 45 minutes from the falls and have been there twice a year my entire life so I cant say that I am as awe inspired by it as many people are but its always fun.

Lessons & tips:

• If your going to go to the falls you have to see the Canadian side, have your passport ready. The American side in nothing compared to the Canadian side. Ive seen it from both sides and trust me you have not seen the falls until you have seen it from the Canadian side
  
• The area surrounding the Falls (Canada side) is super touristy, but very clean and bright. Lots of wax museums, rides, and resteraunts, and a fantastic Casino (great bands play there a lot check out the Casino Niagra website to see if a band you like is playing there around the time your going) Parking costs will kill you!
  
• Once you are sick of touristy Niagra, follow the river to Niagra on the Lake (about 20 minutes or so away, the drive is lovely, beautiful houses and wineries)Bring a picknick and stop for lunch at one of the parks that line the route all the way there (on the right hand side runs a trail for walking and bikes all the way there, with many parks, benches, and tables)  Niagra on the Lake I LOVE, even better than the falls. Its a Beautiful town on the water the buildings are all period (or built to look it  in a few cases) full of the cutest gift shops, think homemade jam and bakeries not ugly 10 dollar t-shirts. They have a massive christmas store open all year, you have to pick up a decoration while your there (if you celebrate christmas) There are also horse and carraige rides around the town.  It can get busy (not as bad as the falls) so go durring the day, overcast days are the best. Be prepared to walk, you cant really park on the main road, but there are parking lots convienently located, take a stroll off the main area with the shops. If you are into older houses or landscaping and flowers
  
• Lodging: I advise staying in a bed in breakfast (there is even a 'haunted' one that has been featured on television a few times if your into that) they are very close to the falls, most look out onto the water, but you wont get the noise you will get in the hotels, There are a lot to choose from in all price ranges.
  
• Spring and Fall are the best time your first visit, nice and cool so you can walk around comfortably. You are pretty much guaranteed to see a RAINBOW if you look a few times.
  
• If you have been before, come back in the winter. New years is good, there is a big out door free concert thats televised and there are the 'lights' They have a big light display, even the falls are lite up by big spot lights that cast different colors on them, its the falls at its prettiest
