My gospel choir performed a re-write of ‘The Sound Of Music’ for charity. It was called ‘The Gospel Sound Of Music’ and featured lyrics like ‘The church is alive with the sound of gospel’ and ‘My Favourite Hymns’.

It was performed in the Bloomsbury Baptist Church in Central London, and was great fun!

I finally did it! I performed in my first musical this past weekend and it was an amazing experience. I was a shy, self-conscious girl in high school (still kinda am); I would audition but never get a part. Although I never got the chance back then, my love for musical theater and desire to be apart of it persisted. Finally several years later, I took an acting class and started to go on auditions again. I was very nervous about both, but these things really helped me start to gain the confidence I needed and I finally got my first part.

I just want to encourage all those who can relate to my past of rejection and urge you to believe in yourself: if it’s something you really want to do, keep trying and you will get there! Auditions can be scary, but don’t let the intimidation get to you. Just prepare well and give it all you got.

Well, I found out from my amazing singing teacher this week that one of the local theatre companies is doing Les Mis. They’ve done it before and it was incredible, and as both my teacher and I are huge fans we’re both auditioning.
They’re in November, so I have plenty of time to work out two songs that really suit me (and aren’t from the show!) and get them sounding fantastic.
This time round I feel so ready, like this is The One. I’ll keep updates coming!

After much searching have finally come across a really awesome looking musical theatre group near me.

I emailled about membership and everything! I really should join, I hope I’m good enough – you have to audition to get it, but the shows they put on are exactly what I want to do!

So desperate to get back into it, been searching high and low for some kind of ‘am dram’ or musical theatre group in my area and I can not find one!

It was always so much fun : (

And that’s with lessons. I’ve been dancing for 14 years, but I only just realised- my singing voice? Nope. So now I trudge to my singing teacher’s house once a week to belt out cabaret and do bad Eponine impersonations. Bad because I can act it, I just can’t sing it. And the next step? Auditions.

My voice teacher says that i’m improving! My voice is stronger, and i can get higher notes! I don’t think i’m ready to go to an audition now, but maybe next time. :)
