Life should be one big musical!!
How I did it: I tried out, got a small part the first year, and had so much fun. I did two musicals in elementary school and I've done 2 non-musical plays since I entered high school, and I'm going to try out for our school production of Cabaret this spring. If you get a tiny part in your first musical, don't get discouraged - the parts only get bigger! When you have a small role, make use of the time you have in rehearsals to get to know the other act… Read how I did it…
How I did it: I just went to practices everyday and kept it up. It got hard, but i stuck with it. The dances wernt easy but they were fun once i got the hang of them. Read how I did it…

Landed some smaller parts in “My Fair Lady” to be performed in April.
Practices have been so much fun already.. I can’t wait for production.

Oh my Goodness! I got a part in a musical/drama/mystery play that comes out in April! I play this quirky mysterious beautician who collects used facial masks from her customers as mini soul canvases lol We’ve only had a couple of rehearsals so far but it’s been really random and fun. The other actors are all very experienced so I’m slightly intimidated but they’re super nice and not snotty at all (like the models I used to work with….Boy were they annoying) These actors are so diverse in their performances and their life styles, I feel like I’m learning so much from them. It’s definitely an intellectually stimulating environment. And so far, I don’t suck and I’m having a blast! But I’m already thinking about starting a fitness regime since we’ll be performing for 2 weeks straight and sometimes with back-to-back shows…Arrggh I’m so excited!

Les Mis audition? Epic fail. All aboard the failboat! But I’m working backstage, and as long as I’m in a theatre I’m happy.

My gospel choir performed a re-write of ‘The Sound Of Music’ for charity. It was called ‘The Gospel Sound Of Music’ and featured lyrics like ‘The church is alive with the sound of gospel’ and ‘My Favourite Hymns’.
It was performed in the Bloomsbury Baptist Church in Central London, and was great fun!
I finally did it! I performed in my first musical this past weekend and it was an amazing experience. I was a shy, self-conscious girl in high school (still kinda am); I would audition but never get a part. Although I never got the chance back then, my love for musical theater and desire to be apart of it persisted. Finally several years later, I took an acting class and started to go on auditions again. I was very nervous about both, but these things really helped me start to gain the confidence I needed and I finally got my first part.
I just want to encourage all those who can relate to my past of rejection and urge you to believe in yourself: if it’s something you really want to do, keep trying and you will get there! Auditions can be scary, but don’t let the intimidation get to you. Just prepare well and give it all you got.

Well, I found out from my amazing singing teacher this week that one of the local theatre companies is doing Les Mis. They’ve done it before and it was incredible, and as both my teacher and I are huge fans we’re both auditioning.
They’re in November, so I have plenty of time to work out two songs that really suit me (and aren’t from the show!) and get them sounding fantastic.
This time round I feel so ready, like this is The One. I’ll keep updates coming!
Well this entry applies to a couple of my goals (so may copy and paste it across!)
After much searching have finally come across a really awesome looking musical theatre group near me.
I emailled about membership and everything! I really should join, I hope I’m good enough – you have to audition to get it, but the shows they put on are exactly what I want to do!
