now I sleep in letting it wash over me
It turned out great. Such cool yarn I received as a gift. Its feels so good to finish something. My third complete knitting project after many false starts. Now I have to get it in the mail.

I don’t have to swim in the sea! I don’t have to swim in the sea!
Oh, and my scarf looks cool, too.

I love this personal challenge thing. I have a lovely winter swim in the icy sea awaiting me in a week’s time if I don’t get this scarf finished. And then to add insult to injury, I won’t even have a scarf to wrap around me when I get out of the sea.
So, I guess I’d better finish the damned scarf.
I started working on it the other day, but I forgot which row I was on in the pattern (since I had not touched the thing for months) and now it’s a big mess. The scarf will be beautiful when it’s finished, but it’s kinda difficult. I am debating just trashing it and starting a new (simpler) one. I’ll make it nice through the yarn (like cashmere) instead of the pattern.
We’ll see.

I’ve been keeping up with my 20 rows per day target, and my scarf is almost as tall as I am now. Soon it will be time to start thinking about when to stop. Yay!

Setting an appointment in the morning and doing 20 rows at once was a great idea. I added six inches to my scarf today! I’m going to do it again tomorrow.

Oddly enough, maybe big chunks is the way to go. Ever since I set the target of 10 rows a day I’ve done a total of… carry the three… nothing.
Tomorrow morning, I swear, I’m going to sit and do nothing but crochet 20 rows. In fact, I’m going to make an appointment now— at 8:30 tomorrow morning, come rain or shine, I’ll be crocheting like a madwoman.

Well, I got my 20 rows done… I realised about a quarter of the way through that 20 was a very ambitious goal for a single evening, but since I latch on like a pit bull when I’ve made the decision to do something, I stuck with it and got it done. It ate up my entire evening, because I’m not the fastest crocheter in the world. Don’t get me wrong, I added about six inches to my scarf and it’s looking good, but the price I paid was not to spend time relaxing with my boyfriend during his rare free evening, which is in direct violation of Goal Number One.
I think from now on I’ll set the target at 10 rows per day, and if I find time to exceed that then anything extra is gravy. I’ll still finish this scarf before spring comes, you watch.

I only crocheted a few rows yesterday, but tonight I have a lot of free time, so I’m going to try to do 20 rows or so while I’m watching television.

Well, I’d say that’s progress. The scarf goes all the way around my neck now. It’s not as good as what a professional would do, but there aren’t any dropped stitches, and anyway, it’s just for fun. Go me!
