As a kid, I played lots of games – mostly card games with my brother and sister – so much so that I was sick of games – so now, 20 years later, my kids are finally at the age to enjoy games, too but I have avoided it. I have collected a closet full of kids board games, but haven’t really played many of them. Over the holidays, we have started playing more games together, and I have actually enjoyed it – mostly. I guess 20 years can change things . . .

We got this game years ago, nice package, lots of painted mini’s and simple to construct plastic hexes for a playing field.
But we didn’t really get into it.
Tonight it was just me and the two littlest, and they picked it out of the pile. I am very proud of how they got the game out and organized it (it’s got a lot of pieces).
We had a great time assaulting a castle together.
I took my oldest two with me to a gaming weekend with friends. WE had an incredible time!
Even though, I dragooned them into baby sittting for parts of both evenings so another couple could both attend, they had a great time too.
We gamed together most of the time, but each of them played one game without me (I like seeing them a little independent)
And for me, I got to play with some of my favorite gamers (RPGs), often for several games.
great weekend. very glad I took them with me.
We like to play RPGs.. D&D and Champions. We have campaigns running in both. BUT we often run out of time to play them.
The D&D game is often held up because a friend is playing and the boys don’t really want to play without him.
SO we started the Champions game specifically for times when he isn’t available.
We need to pick a specific day and time for regular games. Like Saturday nights every two weeks. And the one off Friday a month (3 of us have a regular twice a week game elsewhere, and one Friday a night is Cub Scout pack meetings for another 2 years)
WE also do play cards and board games whenever possible, but we really want to roleplay more.

i felt like the cool mom last night… i logged on to the internet to find a “cheat” so the girls could get out of the library. It was big fun when they made it out!

Today we went to burger king for breakfast. Katie loves the big en. sandwich. The kids had fun playing in the play land and putting on a dancing show for us.
We were doing this for awhile…for some unknown reason, we seemed to have stopped…I need to bring this back to the forefront & make it a priority…sounds like it’s a chore…really, it’s fun…it’s a great way to bond with the kids & it’s something they’ll remember when they grow up…
We used to have family game night when I was growing up…we played Masterpiece, Clue, Sorry…we had a blast!
I’m going to see what I can do to jump start this again…Sunday nights…after dinner & after our family meeting…
