Myself, Shannon, and Abby… I heard this on the way home from the post office. If you can find a copy, please listen to it. It brightened my day up.
Bad DayDaniel Powter
Where is the moment we need at the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to grey
They tell me your passion’s gone away
And I don’t need no carryin’ on
You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You’re faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life’s been way off line
You’re falling to pieces everytime
And I don’t need no carryin’ on
Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don’t need no carryin’ on
You had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
(Oh.. Holiday..)
Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I’m not wrong
So where is the passion when you need it the most
Oh you and I
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
You’ve seen what you like
And how does it feel for one more time
You had a bad day

Lend me your ear and I’ll tell you about the things I fear
Open your heart and I’ll tell you why I’m torn apart maybe
Lend me your car and we’ll go chase down a falling star
Give me your hand cause it takes that fire to understand
Lend me your time and we’ll go somewhere and kill some wine baby
Show me your soul and I’ll shine my light where it seems so cold now
Give me your lips and I’ll tell you about all the things I miss the most
Open your mind and I’ll crawl right up and sleep inside of it
It’s killing me too
It’s so wrong not to be with you
It’s getting harder to stay awake
It’s killing me too
It stops my heart just to be with you
So listen cause you are the only one who cares to hear

Mick Fleetwood… Awesome song… SOMETHING BIG Sounds like a mix between John Cougar Mellencamp (or whatever he’s going by today) and Fleetwood Mac…
Chorus…
Just do something big
You don’t have to walk on water
to deliver this miracle
Just start it out small
watch it grow up tall
Into something big….

Cowboy Romance
It’s a Saturday afternoon romance
between a cowboy and a fool
a drunken meet up
in a crude saloon
a poor Rocky Mountain town
he’s a scoundrel and
she’s no pearl
together they are two lovers cruel
got her balanced on his knee
he knows exactly what to say
“you ain’t been born
til you get out of town
and honey,
you might come with me”
“if you do…
spare the innocent ones
I’ll take you with me
together we will be drifters free”
got her tangled in his arm
she’s a lusting, trusting fool
“no man born can rule me
that I’ve sworn
but stranger if you do
I’ll belong to you”
“if you do…
would you spare the innocent ones
would you take me with you?
can you love the land
and love me too?”
as he grows sober
sees his love anew
in morning light so true
he gets on the move
on the move

Tonight’s put-on-repeat song. The simplicity of marrying a childhood sweetheart. :)
They’re building up big houses
Back behind the school
Where we used to drink our beer on Friday nights
And pretend that we were lovers in your car
We can’t afford to live there
So we drive on past their marble and glass
Hoping that this blue collar town of ours
Won’t ever lose its balls
I was just a little girl
When your hand brushed by my hand
And I will be an old woman
Happy to have spent my whole life with one man

in the BobDylan.com forum (until they shut it down because of spammers – pretty sad really) anyway, something that we did on Sunday nights was agree on a cd to listen to (it was always a Dylan cd) and all ‘press play’ on our players at the same time and listen together. It was pretty cool, people from all over the world listening to the same music together…

This was one of my favorite songs for a long time before I actually read the lyrics. And when I did, I though “What genius”. What he’s saying was exactly how I felt when I listened to the song. The ‘hook’ is what made me love it so much; it didn’t matter what he was saying…
“Hook” – Blues Traveller
It doesn’t matter what I say
So long as I sing with inflection
That makes you feel that I’ll convey
Some inner truth of vast reflection
But I’ve said nothing so far
And I can keep it up for as long as it takes
And it don’t matter who you are
If I’m doing my job then it’s your resolve that breaks
Because the hook brings you back / (The hook brings you back)
I ain’t tellin’ you no lie
The hook brings you back / (The hook brings you back)
On that you can rely
There is something amiss
I am being insincere
In fact I don’t mean any of this
Still my confession draws you near
To confuse the issue I refer
To familiar heroes from long ago
No matter how much Peter loved her
What made the Pan refuse to grow
Was that the hook brings you back / (The hook brings you back)
I ain’t tellin’ you no lie
The hook brings you back / (The hook brings you back)
On that you can rely
Suck it in, suck it in, suck it in
If you’re Rin Tin Tin or Anne Boleyn
Make a desperate move or else you’ll win
And then begin to see
What you’re doing to me
This MTV is not for free
It’s so PC it’s killing me
So desperately I sing to thee of love
Sure but also rage and hate and pain and fear of self
And I can’t keep these feelings on the shelf
I’ve tried
Well, no in fact I lied
Could be financial suicide
But I’ve got too much pride inside to hide
Or slide
I’ll do as I’ll decide
And let it ride until I’ve died
And only then shall I abide this tide
Of catchy little tunes
Of hip three minute ditties
I wanna bust all your balloons
I wanna burn all of your cities to the ground
I’ve found
I will not mess around
Unless I play, then hey
I will go on all day, hear what I say
I have a prayer to pray
That’s really all this was
When I’m feeling stuck and need a buck
I don’t rely on luck because
The hook brings you back / (The hook brings you back)
I ain’t tellin’ you no lie
The hook
On that you can rely

Very corney, but hey, it floats my boat!
In the end you’ll still be you
One that’s done all the things you set out to do
There’s a cross for you to bear
Things to go through if you’re going anywhere
For the things you know are right
It s the truth that the truth makes them so uptight
All the things you want are real
You have you to complete and there is no deal
You’ve been sitting much too long
There’s a permanent crease in your right and wrong
There’s a midget standing tall
And the giant beside him about to fall
They will try to make you crawl
And they know what you’re saying makes sense and all
Don’t you know that you are free
Well at least in your mind if you want to be
Stand

My best friend called me a little over a week ago and said, “Cathie, you’ve got to hear this song, it reminds me of you, it is about you” I listened and well yeah, getting over things, and here I am! So this is a rocking song!
Oh I’m newly calibrated
All shiny and clean
I’m your recent adaptation
Time to redefine me
