How to learn to solve a Rubik's cube.

How I did it: believe me learning to solve that puzzle was alot of work. i looked on youtube and other videos and i just couldn't figure it out. my friend Austin in my art class could do it and i envied it so much. i asked him to teach me and he lent me his rubiks cube so i could practice on my own. during free time he showed me all the different patterns and when to use them and after about a week i was able to do it. i practice all the time to increase my speed and i must day i'm getting pretty fast. plus i never gave him back his rubiks cube :D |

How I did it: I checked how the pieces move around, I made several sketches what moves where if I do certain combinations. I practiced and put all that together. It still takes me about 5-10 minutes to solve it, but my own method! Read how I did it…

Learned how to solve it back in 1982 (when I was only 10) from my college aged brother who learned it from his roommate at college. I amazed my friends because I could solve it in about 7 minutes. Then, about a month ago my 7 year old son found my OLD cube and messed it up and challenged me to solve it – and I was able to – but it took MUCH longer than 7 minutes!

I’ve memorized the algorithm. I can consistently solve a cube in every state. I still don’t really understand what I’m doing, but I’m considering this done.

Okay unscrambled a cube twice. I get the general concept of what I’m doing, now I have to commit the algorithm to memory and actually understand what I’m doing rather than following instructions before I can call this one done.
