i really want to raise my GPA this year. I would like to get into some really good schools for college and they require high standards. Not saying that i am a terrible student at the moment, but i would like to secure my spot in a good school.

I just started college last fall, and the first semester was basically a cakewalk. I took:
*English 105…the required English class that everybody takes. English is very easy for me, and I always got As on my papers…and never had to spend much time on them.
*Story of English…a lecture about the history of the English language. Lectures on Mondays and Wednesdays, discussions on Fridays. I skipped the lectures regularly because the prof. posted the powerpoints online. I never read the book. I only missed one Friday discussion (where attendance was taken) and I always got my assignments in.
*Sociology…In this class, I went to the lectures and kept up with the reading. And I did pretty good. Not too much effort.
*Math 114…the only math class required for my major (English Education). Pretty pointless, but not bad as far as math goes (which was never my thing). I had to get a “C” in it…I got a “B”
*Lap-swimming…no explaination needed.
Total credits were 14. I got a “P” in lap-swimming (it’s not a graded class…you either pass or you don’t), an “A” in English 105 and a “B” in all my other classes.
But this semester is totally different. It’s so much harder, especially since I’m taking Astronomy and the lab. I’m pulling a “C,” which isn’t HORRIBLE, but I have to do better! I’m at my school on an academic scholarship, and since it’s an out-of-state school, it’s the only way I can go here. I have to maintain at 2.4 (my GPA now is like a 3.31 or something)...a “C” wouldn’t kill it, but I don’t want to slip-up and make things harder for myself in the future.
All my other classes aren’t bad, but I don’t enjoy them like I did last semester. My history class is pretty easy…philosophy isn’t so much, but I do all the work I need to do and I’m doing okay…EDF 200 (the required class for teaching majors) is fine, but I have to take a lot of time to read the chapters carefully because we don’t go over everything in class (in fact, most of the class is a huge waste of time)...Shakespeare Lit. is okay. The prof. is a tough grader, but I got a B+ on our big essay assignment and an A- on the last test. But I’m working so much harder this semester, especially since midterm grades came out and I found out that I’m not doing as good as I want to be doing.
I hope that all my hard work pays off!
hurrahhh! i’ve raised my F to a C, but my finals coming up for chem. we’re ap testing for a monthhh… but a C! now i have to worry about calculusss
i got accepted! whoo hoOO but that means i really have to pick up the slack and kick ass this semester. to prove i can do it. to prove to my parents, my friends, my teachers, UCLA, and myself that i can do it! GO ME!
...are a scary thing. To me, As and Bs should be average. Not Cs and Ds and Bs. I have to get to it. Maybe tomorrow. =b
I am missing too much school and not getting my assignments in. Right now I just suck. Any advice?
Missed school because of acid reflux, so I need to actually get it done. I feel bad for missing so much work and school, so I need to get this done.
