...well, maybe not today, but this year.
I was just a kid, and a hockey fan only by necessity (read: an obsessed stepfather and only one TV in the family).
Who knew that 40 years later, having watched the Leafs win the Cup would be starting to look like a “once in a lifetime” experience?
It could happen again while I’m still alive, but I’m not holding my breath. Go ahead, Leafs, prove me wrong! 5 years ago

It sure as hell isn’t going to happen this year! 6 years ago

Was the last time they won the Cup. Every year I am hopeful and every year…well…I am sure other Leaf fans know what I am going through…Will 2007 be the year? Will this be on my list for years and years and years? Gosh I hope not! It has to happen in my lifetime…it has to! 6 years ago

I’ve watched this team lose ever since I was a kid. They came close a few times in my memory – within one game of going to the Cup final. I still have memories of that. But I’ve never experienced the thrill of watching my team win it all.
I am fairly certain I’ll cry when it happens. I know it’s only sports – but the thread of the blue-and-white links all the years of my life. I can’t help but to be affected. The boy inside me lives on. 7 years ago
