Momlette said yesterday that we should go to Hawaii. I agree. I’ve never been, and apparently there’s some sort of beach or something there. Also. My for real cousins live near Hilo.
How I did it: Back in January of 2007, my dad decided that he was sick of the cold and snow, so he said that if he was going to have his feet buried in something white any longer, it was going to be the white sand on the beaches of Hawaii instead of snow. With this sudden news, my mother and I had to pack bags for four people in a single day!!We arrived at the airport the next morning, and boarded the plane to San Francisco, California, where we spent o… Read how I did it…
How I did it: If possible, go to HI for pure vacation rather than for a conference. If you're baggage like me for a conference, however, that can be great (i.e., you go along with a partner who's the one who has to attend the conference). Read how I did it…
crystalz is in school, working and planning my future.
How I did it: I booked my tickets on Expedia.com in February. I also booked a rental car and a snorkel adventure too! I read the book the Big Island Revealed which had maps and recommendations on the best places to go. It was well worth the money for that book. You must have a rental car on the Big Island to really see the greatest places. Make sure you go see Waipaio Valley, the Green Sand beach (takes some work to get to these places, but WELL worth … Read how I did it…

It was amazing! I went to Oahu…. I went out to Northshore, I went snorkeling in Hanauma Bay, went on a booze cruise, went clubbing downtown Honolulu, hung out on Waikiki, and I got an amazing tan!!!
cluelocker back to work, work, work.... hi stress week going on
It has always seemed wonderful. I had a friend from work who just has been and my sister has also been for 9 days in the past month. They were both under-awed. It seems to boil down to heavy crowds and bad traffic, living in a concrete jungle…. I was more envisioning something like in an old Elvis movie with a “less industrialized, real” tropical paradise… I may give this up and shift my goal to going to the Marshall Islands??

because it is a cheap time to leave New Orleans.
A week should be enough time for the Arizona memorial, the top birding spot on the big island, Volanoes National Park, the state park on the southern tip of the big island, dinner with friends, hopefully a sand grouse at the dumpster and a few nights in a condo in Kona.

I was getting ready to board the plane, but desperately needed some hostess lemon fruit pie things. I ran into a grocery store that was connected to the airport and raced up and down he isles looking for them. They didn’t have any single pies for sale, just a giant 48 piece case. I bought that. I was desperate. I guess the dream was more about lemon pies than hawaii, but that was the intended destination.
I live in Hawaii. I’m a kayak guide out of Kailua, windward Oahu. Windward gets the rain, but that keeps it green. Life is good heer, mostly good weather, but for us, the winters can be a bit cool, so not much swimming, but if you come from the freezing cold, it’s still warm and nice. Went to Maui last week. That was nice. Today we are off to Sharks Cove, up North Shore way for a bit of snorkeling. Aloha.
I had the most incredible time spending three months on Oahu. It was one of the most rewarding experiences I have ever had.
