How to use linux more often than windows by Tristan

"Does Mac count? Good enough!"

How I did it: I bought a Mac, and while it's not linux, it is UNIX based and along the same lines. yes, I know it's not free software, but I get to use free software on it using MacPorts, and I can run my Ubuntu with the click of a button in the excellent virtualization software that's available for Mac. Definitely happy with this situation.

    Absolutely worth doing. Everything works, no admin headaches, no long, vulnerable periods waiting for vendor to patch their security holes. Wide variety of software. Heck, if you need to run Windows software, most of it will even run in Wine, even Windows Firefox binaries and Windows Flash plugin for Firefox binaries work fine so you can watch on-line videos that “require” Windows. I haven’t looked back and am very happy that I accomplished this goal.

    Easy to switch to Linux 4 years ago

    Using Linux is easy. I am a simple end user, meaning that I can only point and click, but I have been able to use Linux just fine. Linux is now as easy to use as Windows and the Mac.
