Start an empire of decent people

if only I remembered this 24/7 what an EXTRA decent person I would be. However, I catch myself avoiding “toxic” and “difficult” people or situations as soon as I realize that’s what they are. How could I have not seen it? I was thinking all about this goal and realized yesterday that I totally already have an empire of decent people. My empire of decent people have fostered everything good I have in my life. I am blessed with an amazing boyfriend, a bevy of killer long time friends, and a sweet ass family who all truly know me, care about me deeply, and are always there for me when I need them. I am certain that the more time I spend nurturing my communtiy of people the more decent it becomes.

Thinking of my life in phases and talking to old or faraway friends reminds me how many people I have managed to accumulate that have been decent to me and are there for me. The empire is already rich and vast and growing in small ways daily and will inevitably unstoppably continue.

When my empire of decent people is active it doesn’t have a special title or a figurehead. A truck just appears when you need to move, encouraging postcards show up in your mailbox, saltines are delivered when you’re sick, i-love-yous are instantly messaged, and the cat gets fed when you’re on vacation. It is gloriously mundane daily decent care we give eachother.

I’m dedicated to it and I need to appreciate it’s primary role in underlying everything I am grateful for. 6 years ago

i was getting prepared to be decent… but i recieved no instruction. so i tried a few things on my own and failed miserably.

It’s time to start defining the qualities of a decent person (not just somebody with clothes on).
