I’ve started on this goal back when I took geology for summer credit. It was phenomenal. Ever since I was a kid I’ve been interested in the Earth sciences and that just sealed my fate. Ever since I’ve lamented the fact that I’m horrible at math otherwise I would love to pursue a degree in that field. Regardless I decided to make it a life’s passion. While my only direct study has come from other science classes so far, I recently stumbled upon some wonderful reading. Stephen Jay Gould, reknowned for his theories of evolution, has collected wonderful information in his essays purely regarding geology. In Hen’s Teeth and Horse’s Toes he goes into depth on Nicolaus Steno and James Hutton, two pioneers in the creation of geology as we know it. It’s a fabulous read and his dialogue is enlightening. The other essays are equally worthy of discussion.
