I’m at the age where I have friends losing mobility, and that is a “wake up call” for me to do something about my own mobility. My choice is to train to run a 5k race, hopefully, July 4th in Las Vegas! Now I am walking 5k almost every day. How do I transition to running?

So I’m in the process of registering for a 5k race on May 24th. Feels good to be commited to be in the race and it gives me a deadline and something to work towards.
Well I signed me and my husband up for a 5K race in March. We should be able to finish it by then. We are starting the “Couch to 5k” program as soon as I find a suitable track to run on. Might have to break down and buy a treadmill. This is a lofty goal for me because even when I ran track in high school, long distances were not my cup of tea.
I haven’t ran a race since leaving the military and was forced to do so. I enjoyed running then and would like to do it again. I hope to run in a local 5K race (or longer) within the next year. Whew! I’m already tired just thinking about it. Ha!
