...So good. Just bought a Rubik’s Cube yesterday evening. I spent all of yesterday evening and this morning working on it with the included solution. Spent half the night on it too. The more I work with the solutions and algorithms, the easier it becomes for me to know what I need to do next, and what to do when I run into an issue. And my progress so far has shown that the continued attempts – as well as just having a vague idea of what the next step is – are speeding up how quickly I solve the puzzle. So, all in all, things are looking quite good. If I stick with this, I’m sure I’ll have everything memorized and I can solve this sucker by heart.

How I did it: I memorised the basic algorithms for solving the cube, then just practised until I cracked it. Learn to understand the cube and know the impact of the basic moves on its confirguration. Buy a 2x2x2 first and solve that without knowing any algorithms then upgrade to the 3x3x3.There is loads of info on Google with helpful tutorials. Read how I did it…

How I did it: I grew up in the eighties and early nineties, so I was an elementary-school-aged kid during the height of the Rubik's Cube craze. We used to get the Scholastic Books flyer to order books through school and I discovered there was a book called You Can Do The Cube written by a kid in Europe. He was just a few years older than me and not only had figured out how to solve the cube but had also meticulously recorded every move he m… Read how I did it…
How I did it: Try, then practice. Try, try, try; practice, practice, practice. Mine is pretty old, but by looking at some tips over the Internet, and, again, practising, you (as I) can learn to do it in around or less than 3-4 minutes. The best thing is to show off with friends! Solve it then scramble it and make them try to do it. Before putting into it, I could only do one face, now barely looking! Good luck! Read how I did it…

How I did it: I carried a print out of all the algorithms for the solution for a year (yes, I know that's wayyyy too long, but I don't have a very good head for this type of thing), and would work on the cube in my free time. I was very pleased when I could solve the cube using my notes.. but it took a very long time to finally figure out how to rotate three corners, even though I was able to rotate three LL sides easily! My best time was 1… Read how I did it…

How I did it: I read the tips from those who had done it and visited rubikssolver.com and the little booklet that came with my cube. Initially I solved it with the guide, but felt that didn't really count since I was being walked through it - I had to know how to do it on my own and more importantly why it worked the way it did. So I tried to "be one with the cube" and understand certain fundamentals, such as the middle square is the face side and immo… Read how I did it…

All I need to do now is buy a rubik’s cube!! :D
Or I could scrounge around the attic to look for me old one.. Hmm.

im thinking of giving this goal up because i have no idea where to buy a rubiks cube at all ? so without one i have no chsnce of actually doing this
I was good at this when I was younger. If I could relearn it, that would make me happy.
I hadn’t done this in years…got one side when I was like 8. But recently I picked it up again and decided to do it with no tips, book, anything. I know I can. So I realized that not only do you have to get one side but the conrners have to be aligned properly. I got one side and 2/3 of all the other sides (not bottom) and I am stuck. I know I can get it, but I am afraid to move what I have already done! This is an interesting lesson…to get further I am going to have to risk losing what I have already accomplished. I’m not ready yet so I will put it down for a while, maybe I will be soon.

i just saw this on someone elses profile and remembered how numerous times i tried and failed at solving it i need to get more patience and then maybe one day i will solve it
I am having a lot of trouble finding a rubiks cube without stickers. I want one the has the colours manufactured into it so that I will have NO temptation to peel them all off and cheat!
I solved my very first rubiks cube today (without cheating)! I’m so happy about that. Now I just have to memorise the algorithms so that I can do it by heart.

This is a task that I’ve had a little help with…the Missus brought one for me as a Christmas present after hearing my ramblings about these sort of things too many times. AND…It comes with a solution. Bonus. Ready with the pen to tick this one off….
...The main problem is in memorizing this soluton though. I’ve managed to work though the solution and “solve” the cube, but I’m not ticking it off until I can do it unaided, like those smarmy kids used to do on Childrens TV in the ‘80s (Krackerjack seems to spring to mind for this sort of shenanigans…)
A good start, but not off the list just yet :)

So does it count if you use the booklet, or only if you know how to do it using the tips & tricks so you can beat it on your own? Currently working on it & making progress, I believe this can be done by the end of January!
