.....one can’t put it down! A must read! The book is written in the same manner as some of its characters speak. This makes sense, because the story is at least semi-autobiographical and was written in 3 weeks.

You really have to take the context and era into account to really appreciate how far outside of society’s norms they had gone. The relationship between him and Dean is very moving.

I read it on my honeymoon a few years ago sitting in the sun in Southern Spain. I could easily read it again sometime. Don’t hesitate to pick up this book.

    I have tried  — 8 months ago

And I have tried. For some reason, no matter how much I want to read this book there’s always a distraction. I have no idea what is up with this, but I’ll git r done eventually.

    Worth doing!

Ok, so I literally sat down at 11 this morning with the book, and read until 6 o’clock in order to finish (i did take a lunch break though!). It was quite a nice book, but I do think it’s a bit more appealing to young, carefree and ambitious men than young girls such as myself. I did enjoy it though; it was a bit rambling and disconnected, but it connects with the theme of being “forever on the road”, a long and unending journey. I do however recommend reading this a few chapters a day, over a long period of time. It seems like it would be more enjoyable to indulge in Sal’s adventures a small bit at time, rather than the entire journey in one day, which i did (it was a little redundant!). Overall, this was a very inspiring and engaging book. I do admit I was never completely bored, and I felt compelled to follow the group’s adventures around America.

I am finding it a decent read, but not all that engaging. I’m about half way through and I am interested enough to finish. The events are somewhat disconnected/fragmented. It is easy to sit down and read through a few chapters in a short time, however. That’s a bonus.

I am enjoying it. Short chapters, which is a plus. Easy reading and fairly entertaining.
