How I did it: scrimped, saved, got some inheritance money, got bonuses from joining the Army, plus saved everything I made while in Basic and AIT. Love the feeling of having all that sitting in the bank!  If you don't create alot of expenses for yourself and save everything left over from your paychecks you can slowly amass a chunk of money. Being thrifty always pays off!!! Shop local and used, its good for the environment and for your wallet.-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    I should be at my goal in March! Got behind a couple of months – we took a vacation that we hadn’t planned on, had my husband’s 40th birthday party, Christmas, yadda yadda yadda… but I am almost there! This feels really good.

    Halfway there! I probably could have gotten there quicker if I hadn’t turned down the promotion they offered me last week. I don’t want that frigging job, it’s the third time they have offered it to me. I work full-time, go to school part-time, the last thing I need is more stress, and having to work late hours and weekends which would make me miss a lot of school. No thinks. It goes against my work ethic as well. Taking a promotion when I know I have plans to leave here within a year. That’s not right. Anyway – I am half way to $30K, and on target to have another $12K saved by year end. But I am going to scrimp and squeeze and save every penny I can to try to reach my goal by years end. We will see!
