GataOxum Working on my writting project.
Made me obese!
It was easy for me to become a wine expert because i live
in a French dominated culture, where there are especialised wine stores all ove it! Italian wines, French Wines, Australian Wines, South African Wines, Portuguese wines,
Spanish Wines, etc…
However i also got a pot belly. So two years ago i’ve decided to stop driking, and becoming envolved in jogging and weight lifting!
I am super fit now and i still can chose the best wine, in the store.
But i dont have to become an obese alcoholic in the process.
I dont drink anymore!
People who drink look older faster, and are obese, or have a belly.
I despise been out of shape.

This is something that will take many years, but I recently got “The Wine Bible” from the library. It’s a start, and will prepare me for a classy 21st birthday this fall. :)

I’m having a lot of fun with this. Not sure ‘serious’ I want to get with it but, I’m in love ha! It’s just so fascinating to me.

Read Wine Spectator, go to tastings especially those sponsored by your favorite restaurants. Read “The Wine Bible”, it is the single best reference book ever on wine. Most of all, I learned to have fun with wine.

i wouldn’t say i’m anywhere near a connoisseur, but this is coming along well. i have to know a certain amount about wine for work. i really need to get better at knowing what pairs well with what and be able to describe each of them better.
i love blush wines. but i drink mostly reds, for health purposes as they are the most beneficial. i like cabernets.

This is a goal, in a way you can never attain. The more you know about wine, the more you learn there is even MORE to learn about wine. I’m still fresh into becoming a wine freak, but it seems the information, types, regions, characteristics, it all just keep coming. Every wine tour, trip to a wine store, I learn something new. Its great.

I love to kick back at night and enjoy a glass of wine, but I have to be honest I either love it or hate it, I have no idea what pairs well with food or what the difference between a merlot or a shiraz is?
Any suggestions?

Well, okay, one of my one true loves… ;) I love wine. I’ve met a lot of wines I don’t like, and many many that I can settle for on a lonely Tuesday night (or a not-so-lonely Saturday night when the party needs a third or fourth bottle… long after you can actually taste or appreciate it). However a wine that I truly love is rare. Yet I’m willing to dedicate many a night and taste bud to my quest to find those rare gems. Fortunately I live in the middle of one of God’s gifts to wine… northern California. I’m making it my personal mission to try as many different wineries as possible while I’m here. And in addition to the fun of tasting (my latest hobby), I actually want to learn about it too. I’m heading to Southern France this fall to add the wines of the Rhone & Languedoc to my repetoire. And someday soon I’m going to take a class so I actually know what the heck I’m talking about… :)
