know God more

“I, for one, have no desire to worship a God who is thought to favor the war in the Middle East in order to accomplish some obscure prediction found in the late first century book of Revelation, who suppresses women in the name of ancient patriarchy, or who is so deeply homophobic that oppressing homosexuals becomes the defining issue of church life.

Such an irrational, superstitious deity has no appeal to me and the attack of atheists against this kind of God is welcome. I also do not want to be told that the “true God” can be found either in the inerrancy of the Bible or in the infallibility of a Pope. Both are absurd religious claims designed not to discover truth but to enforce religious authority and conformity.”

Sometimes I’ll wonder to myself ‘What you playing at?’ Someone I love very much is dying a slow cruel undignified death and,well,I’ll wonder…

sometimes it’s hard to believe He is around at all.But He’s there alright and sometimes He’s sneaky.

The more I meditate and get to know myself, the more I know God…
Any thoughts on this? Please?

God’s sneaky sometimes…

Why is this guy’s goal of getting to know God on seventh place? as opposed to being his number one goal?
Could be several reasons…The one that comes to mind is that there are 6 other goals that are taking priority over “knowing God more”...
The nextone is, well, I already know God, and God is cool with me placing Him on 7th place…

Other reasons, well, I don’t know, but those are the two that popped in my head…

A school that offers free English classes to adults might shut down if it can’t come up with the money to apply for a zoning change.
SEFFNER – In their countries, they were dentists and business people.
But here in this breezy yellow brick house off Parsons Avenue, they are students seeking a path out of manual labor.
At the Multicultural Resource Center, more than two dozen adult immigrant students gather four mornings a week to study English in a house turned into a language school and computer lab.
Another 80 are on a waiting list.
But the popular school, which was started in the late ‘90s, might be shut down next month unless directors come up with $3,500 to apply for a zoning change. The county sought the change after a neighbor complained.
For many with night jobs or schoolage children to care for, the free morning classes are like a salvation.
“My daughter is studying in school, and how can I help her?” asked Carmen Moncayo, 45, originally of Peru. Her daughter is 9. “How can I help her if I don’t know English?”
Seated next to her, 62-year-old Elsa Icaza, a dentist in her native country of Ecuador, can’t return to her profession until she learns English. She cares for her two grandchildren in the afternoons and evenings.
“If it weren’t for this (morning) class,” she said, “I couldn’t study.

I was contemplating closing this goal up as I feel I have been doing this lately more often than a few months back, however, knowing God more is a practice that I feel has always th epotential for improvement. All I need to do is use the tools God has given me to be able to get to know Him better…

I know God thru my friends…I know God when I see the light at the end of the tunnel, and I KNOW it is not the freaking train coming at me, I know God more, when I take time to meditate…I know God more when I pray…
So why don’t I do all these things to know God more?
Well, the excuses are certainly many, that is why I need my friends more, for them to remind me to do these things when I need to know God more…
