give more often to charity

I’ve never turned down anyone who has asked me for a spare change. I’d like to think of it as my way of pleasing the karma police :D

a small amount of my monthly salary for a good cause. We have this new club at the office that looks into charitable causes and it needs some funds to get into gear. It’s really not much, but I know the money is going to a good cause. Plus a good friend of mine is managing it, and I trust him enough to know this for a fact.

On a sidenote, I saw a reality TV show on the flight coming home from Dubai, Thirty Days, if not mistaken. This young couple volunteered to freeze all their assets to try life on minimum wage. They really struggled and I got a taste (albeit vicariously) of how hard life can be when you’re down on your luck. When the couple moved into a bare old house, they didn’t have any furniture. Then the guy stumbled upon the Free Furniture Bank and these folks would organize giving away used furniture to those in need. It was really cool and the girl was moved to tears that she had a chair to sit on while eating her meals. I don’t know if we have one of those setup here, but I know it’ll come handy, rather than letting all that furniture pile up in landfills. Will ask my galpal, Ell if she knows anything about this.
