Yesterday I went to my son’s school for a ‘Town Meeting’. He’s in 4th grade. We all said The Pledge of Alligance and the kids sang and played Christmas songs on their recorders all introduced by the ‘student council’. The kids chanted their school motto; “Respect yourself, respect others, respect your school” The principal got up and talked about some of the student council’s daily tasks which include ‘Words of wisdom’ – 2 children each day go to each class and repeat a quote which helps the children to think about what being a good citizen means. What struck me and most other parents was how they end their words of wisdom each day;
“HAVE A GOOD DAY – or not, the choice is yours”
I truly believe that a good attitude is very important, and having a good day depends alot on having a good attitude. It makes me so happy to know my son is in a school that enforces this everyday :)
