Have lilac trees under my bedroom window

When I lived at home with my parents, I had a huge lilac bush right outside my bedroom window. In the summer, I would open the windows and the whole room would smell like lilacs…I miss that. I live in California, right now, and I don’t think a bush would do well where I live and we live on a military base. I don’t know if they’d even let me have my lilac bush. I’m going to have to do some research to #1 – see if lilacs will grow in this environment and #2 – see if base housing will let me plant a bush.

To me, this would be heaven.
