How I did it: We saved hard, bought somewhere small in a great area and just held our breath, hoped for the best and took the plunge...it will never be exactly the right time, or exactly the right place but you have to be flexible I guess in your expectations and then anything is possible! |

It would be so nice to have my very own place, that I actually owned. I wish I had the ability to pay for a place of my own, but I can’t. Not if I live in Portland.
But hopefully, in a few years! There are so many cool houses here. I’d like to get a place here for a while, fix it up and re-sell it or rent it out.. then move to wherever my perfect town is and buy a cottage.. like an old world type. :)

I like the benefits of living with my family like the huge amounts of money I save but they are starting to drive me insane and I would like to get out of this place and have my own house where I can make my own decisions and do just exactly what I want to do.

I’m about to get divorced, leaving the home that I’ve worked to buy for 20 years. Now I want to buy a place of my own that I can make just as I want it to be with the crazy things in that I want.
I’m sitting watching the average house drop in price by 2% a month – that’s like £3000 a month! When to buy? Can I get a mortgage? Where? How big – or more likely how small.

I know I want a house.. I wish I had one now.. and I know that now is a buyer’s market.. but I have a lot of work to do before I can get to that point.
Eventually, I would really like to buy a place in Portland, and then eventually rent it out so I can move to a small mountain town east of here.
I’ve been eyeing a house lately, although I know I can’t get it.. but it’s nice to have a goal to help set my priorities in place. Maybe in a couple years it will be possible!

I am hoping to buy my own house. I live in New York and would love to purchase something in the city, Long Island or Jersey but I can’t afford any of those locations so I may relocate to the south.
