Treefern is secretly a ninja
I just tried my first snail or 5 :)
How I did it: I was on a cruise not too long ago. Escargot Bourguignon was on the menu. Snails in butter sauce. It wasreally good. Consistency and taste much like a mushroom.
I thought I’d be slightly grossed out by the idea that I was eating snails, especially since they are served right in the the shell. But I wasn’t, and I found them to be surprisingly tasty. The texture was chewy, and I like chewy food, so that was good. I suspect that escargot unseasoned doesn’t have much taste, but the sauce I had it in was yummy and garlicky and delicious. And trying to the hang of the special escargot utensils (a set of tongs to hold the shell and a special little pointy fork to pull the snail out) was fun too. I tried escargot as a novelty, but I think that it’s something that I’d actually eat again if I had the chance.
