Home cookin'  — 8 months ago

I have grown up eating some of the most amazing meals thanks to my Mom. My grandmother was Norwegian and a master cook so I’m sure my mother learned from her. I can only hope that by continuing to watch and learn from her I can one day provide the meals she has allowed me to enjoy to my own family.

this will be done after I get a few more dishes under my belt  — 8 months ago

at the moment, I can only make spinach lasagna and macaroni & cheese (the baked kind). Those are my two dishes that I’ll bake a large casserole of and eat at work for the rest of the week.

I’d like to do much more.

and I love it, so I’ve gotten pretty good. At least, that’s what people who eat my food tell me. I know I like what I make. I love to read cookbooks and food magazines. They give you great ideas, even if you don’t cook the actual recipes.

I’m gonna go from vegetarian to vegan, and my folks said that they’re not gonna put up with the complicatedness of that, so for me, learning to cook well is vital. I’m 17, by the way, so they kinda do exercise a good bit of control over me. The vegan thing probably won’t happen until after graduation this May, when I can move out. Woo.

WOW I made a great meal last night of Roast Beef, cooked veggies, potatoes, gravey, and a little bit of pasta. I am so happy and full.

With the help of these websites  — 1 year ago

    Worth doing!

and lots of practice I have become quite a good cook. Epicurious.com, cooks.com, fineliving.com, cookinglight.com, and meals.com are all really handy and helpful. I have gone through a lot of trial and error but now I can say I no longer have temperature issues and overmixing issues and whatever else I was doing wrong before. Now I can pretty much cook whatever I want and it turn out yummy…or at least like it’s supposed to.

does anyone have any good pork chop recipes? Also does anyone know what would go really well as a side dish? Or any good recipes that are inexpensive to make, like using items that anyone would have in there house. Thank you

    Patience  — 2 years ago

..is something I’ll probably need. I can cook but I don’t have the patience, which is probably why I don’t enjoy it too much. I just like the eating part. Hopefully I’ll get more into cooking in the future.
