I joined the Peace Corps and was assigned to live in Guinea, a country in West Africa. The application process took about a year and I had to have an undergraduate degree, which took five years, so I guess all in all it took me 6 years. It wasn’t for me and I ended up leaving the PC early but I am glad I did it and I learned a lot about myself and the world. I am amazed my grocery stores in America now – they are so cool and yet they were there all along… I take nothing for granted these days.

I have been trying to figure out how to go and live in Africa in the bush and study animals, either as an assistant to someone or on my own through a grant or whatever. I cannot afford the prices I seen on the internet for “volunteering”.
ANYONE know how a 49 year old mother of two with some surgical tech knowledge can make my lifelong dream come true???

I’d like to live in an African country for at least a year to really experience the culture. I will probably take a teaching assignment in someplace like in Accra, Ghana

When I sailed into Cape Town and saw Table Mountain sunrise skyline, the townships and the art in Cape Town I just felt like someday
I want to live there.
