Now my iTunes library includes Pérez Prado, Tito Rodriguez, Yma Sumac and the ever-wonderful Sergio Mendes. Samba is perfect for playing on a Saturday evening—invite friends over, begin shaking martinis and chillout.
There are some opportunities in St. Louis-and I haven’t even taken advantage of those. But (hits self in the head) just realized that with all of those nights on the road- in cool places (like San Francisco, Los Angeles, DC, San Diego, Chicago….) I love Samba & Bossa Nova, but my collection is still really small in size and depth. I’ve got all the greats like Charlie Byrd, Stan Getz, and Sergio Mendes. But I’d like to expand to more artists, and maybe even be capable of having a somewhat intelligent conversation on Samba & Bossa Nova music.
