I like to think I am moving gradually towards greater independence from the grid, even if I don’t completely disconnect. I got rid of the dishwasher, and now we wash dishes by hand. In the warm weather, we skip the clothes dryer and hang everything outside on the clothesline. In the winter we do burn wood to help with heating the house, and we turn out lights or use fluorescents a lot. Still… I long for solar panel applications, a wood fired furnace, etc…sigh.
