I’m not that sure. Does humanity really need to read hamlet? And me, in particular?
Imagine you die, and your goals stay somewhere, in a computer belonging to “www.43things.com”. There will be for me “read hamlet”. Sound ridiculous, no? This guy chooses 7 goals for his life, one of them is “read hamlet”.
Bahhh. Ridiculous goal.
Or is it the essence of humanity? ;-)
This is typically a life’s goal. You know you started it, you “ought” to do it, in a global perspective of culture.
Culture, sometimes, lives by itself and imposes you strange goals, like “I ought to read Hamlet in its good old original English”. You’re not English and have to read 3 pages of comments to hope to grasp one word over three of ole Shakespeare’s masterpiece.
THIS is culture. Major goal, this one. Of galactic dimensions.
I could remove this goal from the list, but it will stay in me. So here it stay for lurking web dwellers to read…
