ForsakenLove sad! i have not found a birthday twin :(
i would love to see it, but first i think i need to get to china.lol!!
How I did it: I spent seven weeks in the summer of 2007 working with children in Beijing. I was sent to work with the U.S. embassy by Camp Adventure Youth Services, which is an organization through the University of Northern Iowa which sends U.S. university students to military bases and embassies around the world to provide summer child care. I actually went the the wall the first week and the fifth week that I was there. The first week we decided to go to BaDaLing. It is a section just outside the city and there are frequent tour buses from Tianenmen Square, which makes it the most touristy area. We had trouble finding the tour bus area, but it was nice once we found it. The fifth week we hired a black market cab to drive us about an hour outside of Beijing to Mutianyu, which was still a tourist spot but was far less crowded. It was very easy to get on the wall at BaDaLing... you walked up a road and some steps right onto the wall. At Mutianyu we hiked up a mountain trail for about half an hour before we got to the wall, but the view was worth it.
Resources: Camp Adventure Youth Services paid for my trip to China.

Even more amazing than all the pics you’ve seen!
Wear some good walking shoes, the great wall isn’t very consistent. Some parts are level, and some sections are steep as a mountain.
You should try to see as many sections as possible. I have nine down and many more to go!
I didn’t realize that traveling on the Great Wall was a climbing expedition. Many steps of differing heights. But to say you have climbed the Great Wall is a fabulous goal and makes you part of its history. If you enter the Great Wall from Badaling, you will travel on a cable car to the entrance, giving you a fabulous view of the countryside. Make sure you have plenty of water. You might want to go on a weekday because many of the Chinese also use the weekend to travel there. Have fun!
This is another amazing place that I’d love to visit, but can’t afford right now. I will definitely go to see it some day though, when I’ve saved up enough….
I visited the wall a few times while I was living in Beijing. We did a long hike along the towers which, while tiring, still wasnt long enough. You could even camp over night on the wall. Beware of forceful merchants though… like anywhere you go in China. Just say no and run away or your in for some unexpected hikers in your group :)
