animate

i love animating, but haven’t done it much since i decided to delete all of the illegal stuff i had on my computer (including flash, photoshop, premier, etc .. hardest thing ive ever done.) anyway, the only thing holding me back is lack of money to be spending on this software and/or not knowing of any good open-source alternative to flash .. i use blender for 3d animation, but nothing seems to exist for 2d animation. if anyone knows of any such software, id love to hear from you!!

I’m a professional 3D artist who’s done a lot of animation in the past, both at home and at work, but now I’m at a job where I’m not required to do any at all, so I don’t, and I’m sure I’m losing my skills. It sucks! I’ve got to get back into it. It’s the thing I most love doing in my field. Graarrr, why is it so hard to find motivation for this?!

I want to do a lot more animating. I know it’s a lot of work, but I want to be good at it, and fast at it. I’m starting drawing classes soon to practice and get better at drawing quickly and accurately. I am using a digital camera with iStopMotion and Toon Boom Studio to do all the tricky things that used to be done with cameras and cellulose sheets and ink and paint. I have a one second animation of a fish swimming so far.

Some stop motion, rotoscoping and Flash animations in the past but nothing in a few years. I keep meaning to but my “I’ll do it another night” attitude gets in the way.
