How to throw things away

I am about to lose all my storage space! 1 month ago

I need to move in 3 months and I will have about a third of the space I use to have (moving out of a bedroom for one into a bedroom for two) but I am also moving out of my house into someone else’s.

I have started on this epic task and know that I need to throw things away even if it hurts to lose that item. I just don’t have the room to keep everything that means “something”.

Leading the "Simple" Life..... 11 months ago

I give you much respect for this! I am currently in the process of moving, yet again. Each move I ATTEMPT to de-clutter, but, as I am a highly creative person, I always see something that I can create from what truly should be viewed as “junk”, plain and simple. Today I move, today I begin a simpler life.

Thanks for sharing your experience!

Good habit to have 18 months ago

I’ve thrown away far more stuff in the last year than I used to be able to part with. I consider this goal done but really it’s a habit to form. I donated a lot of things I wasn’t using any more but actually throwing out things that really are of no discernible use to anyone is actually noticeably harder to do.

Don’t let yourself get away with donating stuff you don’t need but holding on to the real junk – donations are great but sometimes junk really is junk.

Phew 20 months ago

Two house moves helped me get a lot of things we didn’t need out of the way – to the tip, to freecycle, to charity shops. There is still plenty of clutter but I need a more specific goal now. It’s definitely better not having tons of boxes of unlabelled and uncategorised “stuff”!

When you throw something away... 20 months ago

...where is away?

I’m trying to live by the 3R’s , especially when moving out. It does require some organization but I think it worth doing it

Moving... 23 months ago

...from one house to another house (and from state to state) REALLY helps one organize! I moved here with a suitcase of clothes, a handful of CDs, & a coffeepot. Slowly I have gathered only the belongings that we need. Living off almost nothing REALLY taught me just how much I don’t need to live, and now I am able to see how less is sooo much more.

Well begun 2 years ago

I’ve thrown some stuff out but not enough that I feel like I can say I’m done. I dug through a stack of 3 year old magazines yesterday and threw half of them away. Do they all have to go?

this is a tough one 2 years ago

i’m such a saver, papers for work, books clothes…
i try to reduce, reuse recycle but i think the amount is over whelming. clean sweep call me!

sierrak Lots of snow....again!

Done for Now 2 years ago

Obviously, this is one of those ongoing goals. But I did get the junk cleaned out of my laundry room and got my old phone books recycled, so I’ve made some serious progress on this one.

I’m going to call this one finished for now, so that I can add some other short-term goals.

Dink is trudging thru the internet.

hmmm throwing away, too harsh a term? 2 years ago

Had a big clear out, recycled all my old paperwork, gave to charity shops, passed on to friends, put in a sell/car boot pile, gave away on freecycle [ if you haven’t looked at that site you should! ] i have done everything but throw away! anything with a memory attached to it stayed… If you could recycle plastic wrap then i would just about never have anything to throw in the bin… yay me ;)

crossing this one off my list too…
