How to karaoke in Japan
How I did it: When I came to Japan as an exchange student, a bunch of us decided we'd get to know each other a little better by going to karaoke all night. We went and sang along to our favorite Japanese songs and it didn't matter if we screwed up, it was all about having fun with each other.
Lessons & tips: Don't worry about how your voice sounds. If you're singing in a different language, don't worry about getting all the words right. Sing as loud as possible and just have fun with it!

Japan defined the karaoke experience, and redefines it all the time. Their database is massive and constantly being updated. They often have more English songs than English karaoke bars back in N. America. Best of all, you don’t have to sit through the wrenching freshman girl group renditions of “I Will Survive”, as if they ever felt a minute of hardship in their overprivileged lives.
ranguvar7 How do I focus on what makes me happy when I don't even know whatitis?
Do it! I went with my host dad and host sisters when I was in Japan. I’m kind of a J-Pop junkie, so I knew a lot of the songs and it was tonnes of fun. When you go to Japan, karaoke is a must. :)

Hello, please bring us four beers.
Not only can you order almost anything imaginable, you don’t even have to leave the room to do it, you just call the reception and they bring it to you. Sugoi desu ne!!!
The main difference between Japanese and Western karaoke is in Japan you would never have to perform in front of the general public, which means you are also protected from hearing other random strangers do terrible things to your favourite songs.
Very fun. Seriously, just awesome.
Almost ALL karaoke places have english lyrics. They are also inexpensive.
You can also buy drinks (alchoholic or not, they never card) and snacks – like pizza, potato (AKA french fries) and lots of other good stuff,.
I sang all the silly songs I knew and some songs in japanese and I had fun! :) Karaoke is great for spending time with friends~ :D
Fun experience – but my singing abilities pale compared to my friends haha. If you can speak some Japanese definitely try doing a Japanese song! Makes things all the more interesting :p.
my friend and i are in the process of booking our flights and arranging accommodation for a trip in july.
