and i learned a little more
i think the main point is to let stuff get ripe enough . for me just on the verge of going bad…a soft spot…a little spot of mold
sounds yucky, and you don’t have to go to this extreme, but they’re better when you give them time. most produce is picked very early and shipped and sold way unripe

how to choose a flavorful cucumber?
how to select pungent, aromatic, not tame but not bitter head of garlic?
how to know a sweet juicy orange from a blah one?

but rather inexpertly…
i mean, if it smells good, then i pick it
alas, so much mass-produce these days has no scent at all
i need more information and skills
for example: how do you know a sweet, flavorful strawberry?
