    trying to watch the movie!!!!!!!

    love it! 2 years ago

definitley one of my all time favourite movies and novels! it does jane austen’s prose justice

I thought it was terrible 2 years ago

Of course I’m more partial to the BBC version but there was still a chance I would enjoy it. But sadly that didn’t happen, I really wanted to like it, honest. I like Keira Knightly but this movie just ruined Jane Austen’s book, all the scenes where muddled I thought. Though maybe I’ll just have to see it again to really see everything properly. But most of it was just SO embarrasing. I couldn’t stand it. I supose I’ll have another go just to make sure, but I think this a sad day for JA’s novel when it’s reduced to this P&P(05). And so far no one is a scratch on Colin Firth’s Mr Darcy.

Oh, to bewitch someone, body and soul….

    Intresting interpretation 3 years ago

Before seeing this film I was trully shocked by the thought of Keira Knightly playing my fav book character-Elizabeth Bennet. I couldn’t stand that skinny young b*tch!

But it was an adaptation based on my fav book, so I gave it a try. The result was stunning-I loved it!

It really is a lot different from what you generally expect from such a movie. But it has its own spirit, s.th. in it felt so real, so…authentic. It surely won’t be what you thought it should be, but there’s a chance you’ll like it!

This version of P&P was not nearly as good as the A&E/BBC one. The final scene, in particular, was terrible.

    Terrific movie 3 years ago

I’ve never read the book nor have I seen the TV miniseries everyone raves about, but I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for period pieces and this is one of the best I’ve seen in years.

Have the movie in my Netflix queue.

A Conditional "Worth Doing" 3 years ago

The colors were awesome and Matthewy Macfadyen (Mr. Darcy) were fabulous. Keira Knightly was fairly good but spoke much too quickly and that mouth puckering/jaw thing she does was extremely annoying (she does this in all movies but I’ll never get used to it).
A&E 1995 Version versus 2005 version…..CLEARLY 1995 wins. But if you want to see a very edited version (2 hours instead of 5 hours) with dialog the author never wrote, then watch the 2005. It’s fairly good but the only treasures were Judi Dench (Lady Catherine de Bourg) and Macfadyen (Darcy).haha though if he and Colin Firth (1995 Pride and Prejudice) were in competition Firth would win, hands down. On a side note, Jennifer Ehle was a MUCH better Lizzy.
Oh and what was up with the singing maid? No need to focus on her at all. Also the meeting between Elizabeth and Darcy at Pemberley was very poorly done, Lizzy should have been uncomfortable but not rude, never rude. Darcy should have also stumbled on his words more and such. The 1995 version also shows him coming into Pemberley unexpectedly in a very fabulous manner.
Bottom line, see it because you’re a fan and you HAVE to see everything “Pride and Prejudice” but if you’re a TRUE fan embrace the 5 hours masterpiece by A&E.

There is no way this is ever going to be as good as the A&E version of 1995 with Collin Firth. Nothing will every top that masterpiece since it followed the book so cosely and Firth is absolutely perfect. If I have one complaint it’s that Jane’s not as pretty as I’d imagined her to be (a bit girthy around the neck hahaha). NO NEED EVERRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR to remake P&P greedy Hollywood producers…. (I’m from L.A., so I love Hollywood but really, what a waste, ugh Knightly’s annoying mouth thing she does when she speaks)
