misti2009 is studying Japanese.
Well it has to happen someday…
As soon as I feel comfortable with Katakana I will begin…
Hopefully by mid May…this year, lol…hopefully.

Kanji looks so hard! I only know two or three Kanji’s but it looks so intimidating.
I hope to learn at least 100 or more Kanji characters.
sooo hard. I’m still currently looking for the proper online resources.. Anybody know good sites?
All i get are sites that introduce kanji and their english meaning. I want to see how to say it in japanese, as well as have the english meaning. I don’t want to just know the meaning in english, I want to know how to say it. I always come across sites where they give the kanji then the english meaning, but I couldn’t learn it like that. If I just learnt the english, then that would mean I’d have to learn it again in japanese…which is a frightening concept, if I have already learnt 100+ or something.
I’m really eager to learn Kanji, and I think I know 3 so far. I haven’t really had enough time to study because of school. Now we have a 2-week term break and I’m hoping I get time for all this.
sigh
it frustrates me that I had already memorized hiragana and katakana and when i came back to it months later, I forgot everything. OK, not everything, some sticked to my mind, but most of it. Almost all, actually. It’s really annoying and a waste of time when I already memorized it… I guess I’ll have to memorize it again, and this time, make sure I don’t forget
my eyes are kinda tired right now, but I’ll be back. soon.
ピンク色の「常用漢字の学習」
1日1ページで、一週間で7ページ終わらせるぞ!
因みに47ページあるから…7週間は確実にかかるね。
長期戦で頑張ろう。
Pink colored textbook “Studying of regular Kanji”
I’ll finish 1page a day and complete 7pages in a week.
By the way, it has 47pages in this textbook so
It will take 7 weeks at less.
Think it as a long war.
No where near starting this. I want to eventually take the Level 4 test but that won’t be for several years. I want to learn Japanese as a language, not just the symbols so I’m working on hiragana and katakana first.
Get to know from memory at least a few hundred kanjis — writing, readings and meanings. And be reasonably fast reading and writing them.
I see learning kana as being a prerequisite for this — I want to have a good command of kanas before tackling the tougher work of kanjis!
This semester I’m taking an Elementary Japanese Class (AKA Beginners) at SDSU.
We’re 3 weeks into the semester, and I’ve already mastered hiragana. It’s the best class I’ve had thus far. Of course, I’m biased, since this has been a dream of mine since I was 12.
But hey, I’m that much closer to learning Kanji!
I used to know about 1000-1200 kanji characters in 2001. I think I might be able to remember about 20 now. I never get to use them now. I never speak Japanese anymore but I will make more of an effort to keep my diminishing ability alive. Overall considering it took me about 6 years to get to that level I would say the kanji at least was not worth it.
For me the hours, days, months etc that are needed to learn the kanji alphbet are not worth it. I would say it is worth it if you want to live in Japan permanently, intend on reading a daily newspaper and want to attempt to integrate yourself into life there as fully as possible.
