While I am visiting family and friends in Chicago next week my girlfriend from college and I are going to a spa! Gloria recently had a facial, so she’s getting a massage, but I am getting a facial! I wonder if I’ll look younger when it is finished? I expect to look a little red but that’s okay. I am so excited to spend time with Gloria and get a facial!

I’m a student and I can’t rationalize spending money on this right now, but I’ve always wanted one! I think I will wait for a special occasion.

Jenn and I were gonna go get facials today but then my roommate invited us to a hulahoop making session with her friends.
How could I resist?!
I will probably look into it tomorrow. I want to go to that Fandango place on Lansdowne but we might have to settle for something closer so we don’t have to walk all the way down there. Maybe if Andrew gives us a ride we could go.
When we were walking to dinner we stopped at two places on George to get price lists. So at least we are a few steps closer.
I want to go to that nail place near my house and get a manicure too. :)

It took 10 months but I did it. What a nice experience.
A gentle cleansing, exfoliating, mask, massage and whatever else they did while I was vegging on the table. She said I have mild rosacia (which I knew) but overall, my skin is good. I was pleasantly surprised to hear that, considering what the “mapping” looked like in Feb.
I will be doing this again. My skin was very happy today!

I’m off on Thursday so I called and made an appointment at the Beauty Academy. 1 hour facial – full treatment plus massage and mask. Yeah!!

The calendar changed and I didn’t do this. I’m off for the holiday later this week. If time permits, I’ll go to the Beauty Academy and give them a shot.

Last week, I went to the Beauty Academy for my cut and color and while I was hanging in the Color area, a student from the Skin Academy asked if I’d like a free facial-mapping. I said of course…then asked what it was. She explained they look at my face through ultra-violet lights to see my skin condition and needs. Sounded like fun. Little did I know….
She put a plastic cap on my head (to protect my color) and had me put my face in a funnel shaped box. I found myself staring at my face in a mirror. OK, I didn’t look my best but so far, so good. Until she turned on the ultra-violet lights.
OMG! What I saw looking back at me was NOT me, was it?! Blotchy skin and tiny lines all around my lips! No, no! Who WAS that?! The student said “Oh, not too bad…some uneven skin tone and some dryness”. Uneven?! Dry?! Hello! I needed major hydration and fast! She proceeded to tell me about their services but I think I was in too much shock to pay much attention. She was very sweet and I thanked her but left stunned.
This has been on my list too long and I’m getting dryer even as I type this! No more stalling…March is the month I get the facial. Probably the first of many to come…..

My visit to the spa started with a 15 minute steam shower. Personally, I like a good sauna over a steam but I enjoyed it just the same…especially since it was 8 degrees outside..!
Then the massage. The masseuse asked me which 1 of 3 words I wanted to feel, so she’d know which oils to use. My choices? Calm, Relaxed, or Beautiful. My answer? Beautiful. (that’s a first for me). All I can say is it was 1 hour of total relaxation.
During the last 10 minutes, I had the “revitalizing eye treatment”. Lotions, oils and warm towels on my face. Can you say “heavenly”? It was.
I’m still “in the zone” today. Not exactly the facial I have planned, but a great prequel.

It’s paying off – during my second appointment, the cosmetologist, a different one, was extremly chatty (now I know that that’s not what I want), and spoke a lot about the right skin care regime. She told me that my skin is sensible and irritable. I had never looked at it this way in all of the years of tampering with products. On the right path!

Book it Dano!
I’m having a monsterously busy week – all good stuff, but busy just the same. Rather than wait for a special reason, I decided it was the perfect time to pamper myself.
Saturday afternoon, I’ll be enjoying a wonderful steam then a relaxing hour massage and a little eye-action.
It’s not a facial but I promised myself that I will book that before winder ends – goodbye dry skin!
