Did it on Sat 08/23/2008 – The trail we used was Tuckerman’s Ravine, took us five hours just to go up. I wanted to turn back by Hermits cabin, but my group talked me into keep going. The last mile was brutal…
It was my first time hiking, so it was a pretty bad idea going to mt Washington… But we tough one of the girls in our group had done it. We found out later that she DROVE to the top…

Mt. Washington’s a nice day hike, but the summit is a little anticlimactic.

Mt Washington is the tallest mountain in the Northeast. Ive done it 3 yrs in a row – and it is a great hike. Wear one of those ‘no-sweat’ t-shirts going up. you’ll be thankful

i recently returned form a deployment to iraq, and when i was over there we often recieved a lot of magazines and things of that nature to keep us occupied. one of my favorites to recieve was outside magazine, and reading about climbers and guides and the like, and i couldnt wait to get back and start climbing anything and everything, and i made a promise to myself that if i got out of the country alive, i would climb mt, washington with my best friend, we just got back two days ago, and it was stellar, we couldnt hav asked for a better day, and the trail we chose was just the right level of a challenge for us.

... may as well hike the rest of the AT through the Whites.
Mt Washington is very unpredictable. The climb up was awesome, however during the last mile or 1000’ vertical, I saw nothing but clouds. I would suggest staying at the Lake of the Clouds hut just 1 mile south of the summit on the Appalachian Trail.

It was a great time for self-reflection and self-worth. The weather was unpredictable, but it felt so good! I did it with my best friend, and it took us about 2 and a half hours to get up (we are both in good physical condition, I don’t advise sprinting like we did). Definitely worth it!

My grandfather, for a long time, held the record for climbing Mt. Washington the fastest.
After he died, my family and I climbed it too.
It was beautiful.

Ok, so my family and I decided to climb Mount Washington. No, not drive. Climb. Keep in mind I am only 14 years old with activity induced asthma. How do you think I felt on the way up? I’ll leave that up to you. But when I got to the top, it felt amazing. I literally collapsed to the ground, and while people were driving by laughing at me, I felt like laughing myself. I had just climbed Mount Washington, the tallest mountain in New Hampshire, and all those drivers would be able to get was a stupid bumper sticker that says, “This car climbed Mount Washington.” Me, I got the unbelieveable workout, the incredible view, and the unforgettable experience of a lifetime.

Me and two buddies backpacked up to the summit in the summer of ‘80 from Pinkham Notch. We went up Tuckerman Ravine and slept over at the Perch before heading back down to Dolly Cop Campground the next day. I’ll never forget it.
